Books

So after my pity party last night, haha.. I decided I should do something about it. Yesterday was just one of those days when everything crashed in at the same time..

Can anyone recommend a good book about the Mental Side of Dieting? I thought maybe this will help me focus...

  1. oh girlie, I am so sorry. Dieting sucks there is no getting around that fact. I had the same problem during college. I could not understand why my body was gaining weight. Then I remembered I am not in high school anymore. Duh!

I know I have to look at my eating right and excercising as not just being on a diet 24/7, but as a life style. I will never be naturally thin, being able to eat whatever and never gain a pound. It is a lifestyle I am going to have maintain till I die. Just one of the countless joys of being blessed with boobs, hips, and an ass:)

A book that my mom got and then gave me was 'Faithfully Fit: A 40-Day Devotional Plan to End the Yo-Yo Lifestyle in Chronic Dieting'
by Claire Cloninger, Laura Barr. This book is an amazing tool in maintaining a healthier lifestyle. You can check it out at www.bn.com. They even have a chapter excerpt you can view, see if it is what you are looking for!

Don't get down girlie. I will be more than happy to be an accountability buddy for you. If you need to rant or just need to talk. I'm here....

  2. I know it's not a book, but I did Weight Watchers (the meetings not online) and it helped so much. I went to the meetings every week, which helped me stay on goal. The positive reinforcement really helps on the weeks where you may just loose a little bit. Plus knowing that you have to step on a scale each week helps keep you focused. It really helps teach you a lifestyle, since they make the changes really realistic.

I gained a lot of weight after being on medication 4 years ago (55 lbs), and it's been 4 years and I've kept everything off. Not sure if you've tried it or not, but it's definitely worth it if you haven't!!
